Cool Down Eastside is a youth project for Jacksonville’s Eastside, on a vacant public parcel near A. Philip Randolph Boulevard. It would pair a concrete skate park with a free spray pad so kids have a shaded place to ride, cool off, and stay outside through a Duval summer. The park would be built for beginners and regulars: bowls and street features for boards and scooters, misting arches and ground jets that run in the heat, and shade trees between the two. No fees, no membership, open after school and on weekends.
Replant Palm Valley is a community fundraiser to put live oaks, southern magnolias, and cabbage palms back into parks, rights-of-way, and other public land across Palm Valley and Ponte Vedra. The plantings are meant to restore shade and canopy, hold more stormwater, clean the air, and give birds and other wildlife a place to live along the roads and greens that already define the area.
Save the Cove Nursery is a community effort to buy the old nursery at 600 State Road 13 and keep it out of gas-station use. Neighbors have already turned back three Daily’s proposals on this land beside Fruit Cove Estates. The goal is a permanent purchase so the parcel stays green, quiet, and compatible with the homes and school bus stop next door.
The Jail Annex held Dr. King and 16 rabbis in June 1964. Help keep that civil rights landmark standing. Give to Save the Historic St. Johns County Jail.
A Welcome to Palm Valley monument at the east end of the Palm Valley Bridge would mark the real threshold of the community—live oaks, sabal palms, and magnolias framing the entrance people already feel but never see named. It is a modest, lasting civic marker for residents, visitors, and the next generation crossing the Intracoastal. Help put Palm Valley’s name where the road already brings you home.
