Description

Cool Down Eastside is a youth project for Jacksonville’s Eastside, on a vacant public parcel near A. Philip Randolph Boulevard. It would pair a concrete skate park with a free spray pad so kids have a shaded place to ride, cool off, and stay outside through a Duval summer. The park would be built for beginners and regulars: bowls and street features for boards and scooters, misting arches and ground jets that run in the heat, and shade trees between the two. No fees, no membership, open after school and on weekends.

1

Secure the parcel & partners — Confirm use of the vacant public parcel near A. Philip Randolph Boulevard with the City of Jacksonville and Eastside neighborhood partners.

2

Design with the kids — Shape the skate bowls, street features, and spray pad layout with input from local youth, skaters, and families.

3

Build & open — Pour the skate park, install the spray pad and shade trees, and open it free after school and on weekends.
